I remember being frustrated trying to read the labels of everything I was buying when I first went vegan to double check for animal products. Over the years, it has become a lot easier and I want to share some of my top tips and selections with you so it can become easy for you too!
Top Tips for Vegan Grocery Shopping
- Read the nutrition facts label. Vegans avoid any product that contains milk, gelatin, egg, dairy, meat, or honey.
- Look for a V inside of a circle symbol on the front of the package.
- Check out PETA for a list of ingredients or products that are vegan if you are unsure.
- Don’t be hard on yourself, you are learning and will make mistakes.
- Watch out for items marketed as “plant-based”. This does not necessarily mean they are vegan.
